I’m Tobi Nifesi, a professional nonfiction ghostwriter, author, journalist, and publishing consultant based between Vancouver, Canada, and Valencia, Spain.

I’ve spent more than a decade working across writing, journalism, ghostwriting, book development, and publishing, and have been ranked as one of the top ghostwriters in Canada by multiple lists.

My projects have covered subjects ranging from entrepreneurship and leadership to medicine, faith, grief, resilience, identity, family, and legacy. As such, many of the books I work on involve complicated material. A client may be trying to explain decades of professional expertise to a general reader, another may be telling a deeply personal family story involving several people with competing memories of deeply traumatic events, meanwhile another may have hundreds of pages of interviews and research but no clear structure. My job is to bring clarity to that complexity without losing the person behind the book.

My work focuses primarily on nonfiction, including memoirs and autobiographies; legacy and family-history books; business and leadership books; thought-leadership and expert nonfiction; personal-development books; narrative nonfiction; book proposals and sample chapters; manuscript development and rewriting; screenplay-to-novel and other IP adaptations; and publishing strategy and author guidance.

Some clients hire me to develop and write an entire book from the ground up, while others come to me with a manuscript that already exists but needs stronger structure, storytelling, research, or editorial development. Vancouver remains an important part of my professional base and where much of my writing and publishing work has been developed.

I work with clients throughout British Columbia and Canada, as well as authors and professionals across the United States, Europe, and internationally. Most ghostwriting projects can be completed remotely, but being based between Vancouver and Europe also allows me to work closely with clients on both sides of the Atlantic. For Vancouver-area clients, in-person strategy sessions and interviews may also be arranged by appointment when I am in British Columbia.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Ghostwriting fees vary considerably depending on the length and complexity of the book, the amount of research and interviewing required, the state of your existing material, and the level of editorial support involved. After an initial consultation, I prepare a project-specific proposal outlining the scope, timeline, deliverables, and fee. That said, typically, for a full-length memoir, (i.e. 60,0000 to 80,000 words), my rate starts at 30,000 CAD. However, payments are made in installments.

  • No. Most of my projects involve a combination of Zoom interviews, shared documents, email, and other digital tools. Vancouver-area clients can also arrange in-person meetings when I’m in British Columbia.

  • That is one of the most important parts of the process. Interviews are not simply a way of collecting facts; they help me understand how you speak, what you notice, how you tell stories, and how you naturally express ideas. The goal is to produce a professionally written manuscript that still feels authentically yours.

  • Yes. Some clients begin with nothing but an idea, while others come to me with partial or complete drafts. I can assess the existing material and recommend whether the project needs developmental editing, rewriting, additional interviews, restructuring, or full ghostwriting support.

  • Yes. I can help you understand your options across traditional publishing, assisted or hybrid publishing, and self-publishing, and help prepare the manuscript and project for the appropriate next step. I can also connect and introduce you to publishing partners as needed.
